The book includes a wide variety of written and listening exercises, including numerous transcriptions. All transcriptions provided are phonemic transcriptions (or broad transcriptions) and, thus, identical to the kind found in the British main pronunciation dictionaries. Emphasis is given to the pronunciation of function words in connected speech to help non-native students acquire a more native-like pronunciation. A key to the activities is provided at the end of the book.
